Trawlers, shoals of fish, surf and big horizons… We were delighted to begin collaborating with Jetty and support the creation of a new large-scale work by artist David Macomber in Summer ‘24. David brought a huge seascape to salty life in the flagship store of B-Corp Certified company Jetty located at 176 East Bay Manahawkin, New Jersey, using Liquitex Bio-Based Heavy Acrylic and Mediums.

David is driven by telling stories about the ocean and making friends, through painting, illustration and sculpture. The Jetty commission is the perfect collaboration. The company describes itself as a coastal brand with a conscience, surfer owned, and surfer operated. It makes eco-minded, durable apparel infused with the spirit of adventure, as well as running sustainable brewing and print operations. Jetty Rock Foundation supports coastal communities by donating money to clean water initiatives and disaster relief efforts.

Liquitex Bio-Based Heavy Acrylic and Mediums were the natural choice for the mural, underlining the artist’s and Jetty’s planet friendly principles. Covering the vast flagship walls, the artwork is an oceanic scene in David’s signature illustrative style, showing life above and below the waves. David used a palette of marine blues and greens, with tan and ochre yellows for maximum impact.

Like Liquitex, David’s on a mission to build community through his creativity. He’s recruiting a crew of likeminded people, the Seasquad, to help him. The principles of the squad are: Create - always be making, building, constructing. Art must be tangible, not just good ideas. Explore -always look for new ways to solve problems, be curious about nature and humanity. Be kind - always look at the best interests of others.
