MEET IAN DAVENPORT
Award-winning artist and long term Liquitex user Ian Davenport invited us to his studio to learn more about his unique practice. With a career spanning over 25 years, Ian takes color to new extremes. Always fascinated by the weird and wonderful things his materials can do, Ian's use of paint and color is a way of exploring the world. A nominee for the Turner Prize in 1991, he has exhibited a large-scale piece at the 2017 Venice Biennale of Art and was given a major exhibition at Dallas Contemporary in 2018. Ian works with Liquitex acrylic paints in his London studio to achieve his unique drip and puddle paintings. He put our cadmium-free colors to the test and reported that they more than hold their own, providing the saturation and vibrancy he needs for his work. See more from our visit below.
